This system is exactly as advertised. I installed two kits above my two-car garage door (one kit on either side of the garage door opener). A kit consists of mounting plates (6 per kit) which attach to joists in the ceiling. Threaded rods and nuts connect to the mounting plates and then to a piece of angle iron which hold up the 3/4" 4x8 sheet of plywood (purchased separately)for each kit. The threaded rods make it easy to adjust the height of the shelves.
I ran into three issues while installing: 1) the way that the ceiling mounting plates are made, they do not hold the nuts so that they will not turn; and they are too shallow to allow using a box wrench. You will need an open-end wrench that is relatively narrow to hold these nuts while you tighten them. A simple re-design of these pieces so the nut slides in snugly would have made things a lot easier while attaching the kit to the cieling. 2) A 4x8 3/4" sheet of plywood weighs a lot.
