I bought this at a warehouse store. First things first, the other reviewer sounds like he had a bad experience with an American shipping company not a Chinese manufacturing company. In reality we should "buy American" when we can, but that is not always possible especially when you are looking for alternatives to the high price and high quality products.
These ARE made in China, but are actually well built (for lower end tool chests). It isn't "professional quality" by any means (you won't find this in a racing team's garage) but, for a casual do-it-yourself'er like me, this is perfect. The diamond plate pattern is just powder coated steel and may look a little silly to some people. I didn't mind it. The drawers are smooth enough when you pull them out but, again, don't glide like the silky smooth expensive chests. When you push them in to hold them closed, it requires a little more effort, but all of the lower priced chests are that way. The drawers are powder coated steel...
