This is really nice slab of solid wood- red oak- with a finished sheen (not a shiny-shine and not raw wood).
This product photo is a poor representation , it does not show off the product in a good way. It has a natural grain in stripes and will add an earthy rustic touch to any place its used.
You can also cut to size and customize it with a saw ( too obvious, maybe?).
My red oak work top is used in the kitchen where extra counter space was needed to be used as a cutting board/ food prep table. It is on top of a counter made from cabinets. The surface below it is a plywood sheathing board.
No warps, true to size, solid, real wood with a nice grain striped. It is not composite, not pressed, and not MDF.
All four edges are smooth rounded and finished, one side has more sheen than the other (I think, (maybe it was my eyes?) but both sides do have a sheen. Either surface can be used.
